air purifier technology

How does an air purifier clean the air?

open tab

Air purifiers purify the air by sucking dirty indoor air into the main body and collecting contaminants such as particles and allergens in the air with a filter.

What kind of filters are used in air purifiers?

open tab

Most air purifiers filter the air using HEPA filters or washable stainless steel dust cells. Some air purifiers incorporate a pre-filter to further increase overall filtration efficiency.

What does HEPA mean?

open tab

HEPA stands for High Efficient Particulate Air. Genuine HEPA filters are guaranteed to retain 99.97% of airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns. (HEPA filters can also collect particles smaller than 0.3 microns, but in that case the dust collection rate will be lower than 99.97%.)

What is the difference between a HEPA-type air purifier and an ion-type air purifier that uses a washable dust grid?

open tab

Both are technologies for purifying air, but they don't have much in common. The biggest difference between the two technologies is the efficiency of the filters. HEPA-type air purifiers are characterized by much higher filter efficiency than ion-type air purifiers. And most ion-type air purifiers have the property of expelling ozone, which damages lung tissue.

What is BioGS HEPA Filter? How is it different from conventional HEPA filters?

open tab

Since allergens such as dust mites and pollen remain on the surface of typical HEPA filters, there are problems such as the growth of harmful bacteria and the generation of unpleasant odors. BioGS HEPA filters eliminate this problem by using cutting-edge bioengineered fibers that gradually reduce allergens such as pet dander, mites, and pollen from adhering to the filter. In addition, conventional HEPA air purifiers, in which particles and allergens accumulate in the filter, have the problem that the efficiency of the filter gradually decreases due to clogging, so the filter performance deteriorates significantly after a certain period of time. increase. On the other hand, the BioGS HEPA air purifier can reduce allergens attached to the filter, so you can maintain the best performance for the life of the filter.

Is it okay to run the air purifier continuously for a long time?

open tab

The best way to really purify the air is to run the air purifier continuously. Scientific studies have proven that once an air purifier is turned off, indoor air pollution can quickly rise to pre-purification levels.

What is the CADR indicator?

open tab

In order to clean the air in the room, it is necessary to pass all the room air through the filter of the air purifier. Air purifiers are rated by the amount of air they force through their filters. CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) is an index to evaluate it. CADR measures the amount of air that is expelled into the room after particles have been removed. The higher the CADR, the larger the area of the room that the air purifier can purify.

What does ACPH mean?

open tab

ACPH (Air Change Per Hour) indicates how many times an air purifier can purify indoor air in one hour. For example, 2ACPH means that the air purifier can clean the air in the room once every 30 minutes. For those with allergies or asthma, this means you need an air purifier that can purify the air in your room at least 4ACPH, or once every 15 minutes.

I'm worried about the annual operating cost of the air purifier. How is the annual operating cost of an air purifier calculated?

open tab

When purchasing an air purifier, the annual operating cost is a very important point. High filter replacement costs and inefficient power consumption of air purifiers add to your expenses. Add the annual power cost to the replacement filter cost and you have an annual operating cost for the air purifier.

*Annual power cost = Aircraft power consumption (watt) x electricity cost (¥/kWh) x operating time (hr)
